A major question in the dispute is how much authority a former president has to assert executive privilege.

Tuesday to honor his claim that executive privilege should prevent the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol from obtaining scores of White House documents.

The committee sought the records from the National Archives because it maintains all documents from past administrations. Trump asserted executive privilege over some of the material, butsaid the records should be released to Congress, citing the importance of the committee's work. Trump's lawyers said Chutkan wrongly concluded that a sitting president has the sole power to decide when a claim of executive privilege should be honored.

There is no question. A former President doesn’t have executive privilege.

ZERO ZERO ZERO AND U KNOW THAT !!! What are u doing framing it like he has some sort of power . Terrible journalism

He should be in prison! 👊🏾🇺🇸

What about 'no man is above the law'..?

None.

None. Wishful thinking on his part.

A mob level criminal 0.0. He should have been more vetted BEFORE he was allowed to run for president. This man couldn’t even get a casino in Vegas. His Trump hotel in Vegas doesn’t have a casino should have been a huge red flag. He’s not even allowed to have Twitter or Facebook.

A FORMER person in the highest position should have no executive privilege after the time in office is over - that person resorts back to just a private citizen that once was a person in the highest position..

The Presidency is an office, not an individual. It’s not in dispute. But please, let’s continue to entertain the degradation of our institutions by TFG.

None!

None Come on

If the current president wants it released then he can release it. He's effectively said so by not objecting.

No president, current or former, should have the authority to cover up a crime.

If he did nothing wrong why is he trying, so hard for it not to be seen. Sounds like he was in it or knew about it and now trying to stay out of it. Let’s see all that he said.

He has none. So just stop with this BS.

What is he hiding? Guilty AF…. Arrest him

Answer. None.

None

This question is so easy even Jerry Springer could decide it on his court tv show and get it right

He hasn’t been in office in 10 months and the news still relies on him for clicks and comments, so pathetic, just wait, there will be more videos of mr sleepy passing out and lib(cantsaygotbanned) will talk about no success, lol

No it’s not a “major question”. It’s really easy, and Trump is grasping for invisible straws.

That would be a possibly effective argument if the circumstances were 'normal'. The man attempted a coup. That makes ANY argument of 'privilege' moot.
