A man charged with throwing a bottle and rocks at police at an anti-lockdown protest lost his job as a bus driver for this reason, a court has been told.

Ulric Wharerau has been charged with 20 offences, including assault police over his alleged involvement at an anti-lockdown rally at Richmond in September 2021.

The Elwood man was a bus driver at Ventura but was sacked after he refused to get vaccinated, Senior Constable Sean Armstrong told the court.“He has a blatant disregard for the law … and poses a risk of future deliberate attacks,” Constable Armstrong said. Mr Wharerau launched a Capi bottle at officers in Burnley St in Richmond on September 18, police allege. He is also accused of throwing rocks at an officer at Bridge Rad and later “rushed” another officer, bumping into him on the same date.

He had “no wish” to be involved with any other protests and spending the night in custody was “quite a wake-up call”, Ms Powell told the court.

The 1st dream of Qiyamah: I was talking to Allah while he was above his throne. Allah told me 'Qasim do all your work before 6 p.m. so I can establish Qiyamah'. I believe Muhammad Qasim is the awaited Imam Al-Mahdi.

I wouldn't want to ride in a bus driven by some dickhead who thinks its OK to throw bottles at police. Maybe he should be driving the porcelain bus in Cell Block 9 with Bubba as his conductor?

I can see your spin .. people will wake to you

Zacklywright Violence is the act of a coward and must be denounced.

No matter what your views may be. Throwing rocks and bottles at another individual is sheer violence and you are a criminal.
