27-year-old Vadim Veste, of Clancy Street, Fermoy, Co Cork is charged with sexually assaulting a female on November 7 in St Coleman's Park, Fermoy.
Evidence of arrest charge and caution was given by Det Garda David Barry. He said that Veste made no reply when the charges were put to him under caution.Det Garda Barry said that Veste, who is a married man with children, has no ties to the jurisdiction. He expressed concern that Veste could flee the country rather than face trial.
He stated that the woman was sexually assaulted whilst out walking last Sunday evening at 6.40pm in a park in Fermoy. The attacker sexually assaulted the woman by placing his hand under her skirt touching her vaginal area outside her underwear, the court heard. The woman kicked and fought back with her attacker placing his hand in her mouth and damaging her mouth and her lips.Two members of the public heard her cries for help and the attacker fled the scene.
Det Garda Barry said that Veste faces up to five years if he is convicted in relation to the charges.
