Scurtis alleged that Rodriguez and another defendant, Stuart Zook, engaged in a pattern of racketeering and embezzlement, and the RICO claim was partially tied to alleged mortgage and insurance fraud committed during 2008, after Hurricane Ike pounded the west coast of Florida and severely damaged property that was part of Scurtis’ and Rodriguez’s real estate company.
“The Court’s conclusion in the order speaks for itself,” said Benjamin Brodsky, one of Rodriguez’s attorneys. Hanzman has pushed both sides to try and reach a settlement, but that appears unlikely in the final days leading up to trial. More recently, Hanzman was focused on trying the discrete issue of whether Scurtis’ interests in the real estate partnership were converted or civilly stolen, before doing an about-face and ruling that the “entire case” would go to trial.
He layed low during his trial - that never was - and retired quietly and put some sand on his sly guilty cheap image by engaging in a short affair with the always available JLO so he could fool justice, media and 'his fans'. But not me. He knows deep inside about his ugly guilt👎
