Pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson has had its bid for an appeal to a Federal Court ruling thrown out of the High Court.to three women who had suffered serious side effects from faulty mesh implants.
The women, Kathryn Gill, Diane Dawson and Ann Sanders, were the lead applicants in a class action of thousands of women who had experienced side effects from the implants, including chronic pain and infection. The devices, also known as transvaginal mesh, were implanted into the pelvis for conditions that included pelvis organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.the Federal Court found the Johnson & Johnson had been driven by commercial interestsToday, the High Court denied the company's leave application for a hearing, saying there was no point of law in the case to be challenged and it would not have any prospect of success.
Thanks, the article said the women were ignored and treated appallingly. I just assumed that was by the doctors, so by the sounds of it the mesh is still seen as safe? 🤔 My point was just because the product is approved by J&J & the TGA doesn't mean the doctors should use it.
I wish they'd change the flavour of their cotton buds.
What about the doctors that implanted this dangerous mesh? Obviously they must held responsible as well.
This is kinda news, but it's more like a rabbit-hole kind of news, where it all seems cut and dry, J&J is evil, burn them all at the stake, but on the other hand, we can discuss P.R assassination and hostile take-over, like a Tom Clancy novel.
It's a bit sad to me, Oxford university developed the AZ vaccine, they have a solid reputation, but it is now associated with J&J, so society decided to back U.S big pharma giants over the UK higher academic institute, an institute based on public service, not profit.
Good.
Society really hate J&J nowadays, someone wants them muscled out of the industry. It seems to have started with talc, geologically is found near asbestos, so J&J got done for a cancer civil case, it's been doom and gloom since.
