A restaurant in Co Galway has raised almost €80,000 in less than a week to launch a legal challenge against Ireland's Covid vaccine passes.Like all hospitality venues across the country, the venue is mandated to check for customers' Covid passes if they want to dine or drink indoors.

The restaurant has launched a crowdfunding campaign in order to challenge what it calls a "divisive law" which is "legally, morally, and ethically wrong". "It raises serious privacy law concerns about the processing of private sensitive health data. This law is dividing friends and families and risks destroying the entire social fabric of Irish society," it states.

"We were served with a Compliance Notice on August 20 and brought to the District Court on numerous occasions," the crowdfunding page says. The fundraiser is "only the start of the push back against discriminatory laws", the restaurant adds, and they intend to challenge the legislation in the courts.
