A woman who was physically and sexually assaulted by her ex-partner over the course of several days in May last year tells the NT Supreme Court the incident left her scarred and afraid.

A domestic violence order was in place at the time of the assaults which took place several weeks later.

Later, the pair were asked to leave a taxi in Darwin's inner suburbs after the man was aggressive towards the driver. The court also heard that days later, the man sexually assaulted the woman in a motel room, and later punched her in a "violent attack" in public, before passers-by intervened."I am still very emotional," she said in a victim impact statement to the court.

"This whole incident has made me very scared about getting in a relationship … it's changed the way I live. The case was heard before NT Supreme Court Justice Jenny Blokland.
