“I regret Mr Hutchings is not well with regard, as one would expect, with his other comorbidities of renal failure and cardiac malfunction. Democratic Unionist Party leader Jeffrey Donaldson called it “desperately sad news”, but said that “serious questions” needed to be answered. “There now stands serious questions around those who made the decision that Dennis should stand trial once more. He was honourable. He wanted to clear his name again but was dragged to a court and hounded until his death. “This is a sad indictment on those who want to rewrite history but also demands serious questions of the Public Prosecution Service about how this trial was deemed to be in the public interest.

“My thoughts and prayers tonight are with his family and friends who may understandably feel that what he was put through contributed to his decline.” On Twitter, he wrote: “I got to know Dennis over recent years. An elderly man, in poor health, he was determined to clear his name once and for all.”DUP MP Carla Lockhart also described the news as “awful”.

If Jeffery got shot in the back I suppose he might want justice, sick of listening to this two types of proddy justice, get everyone you know to vote in the next election and get rid of these Jefferys.

He will meet a higher authority now

Questions maybe asked but will they be answered truthfully I don’t think so

Dirty old man

I didn't think someone could stand for trial if they are dead. Perhaps JD has a point.......

As in why did it take so long...

Yes. Shooting someone in the back is so cowardly that yes, serious questions needs to be asked

Lads let’s just ignore Jeffery just pandering to his base of bigots.

Serious questions need to be asked about why he didn't spend the best part of his life in prison for the murder of an innocent man.

I mean the trial should still happen, just because that piece of shit died doesn't mean their shouldn't be closure on it

SocDems fiannafailparty FineGael Weasel words from Donaldson . Age etc., irrelevant ...As I recall 🇩🇪is still pursuing 90 y.o. war criminal suspects. Guilt or innocence to be established IN COURT.

Yes why wasn't he charged in 70s

Yeah you should never have to stand trial again even if u murdered someone

This man was on trial for murder of an innocent simple man or does that not meet Jeffrey's twisted standards of justice?

Meh.
