The 57-year-old pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out to him before Sessions Court judge Rozina Ayob here on Thursday .
Rozman was accused of using his position as the Labuan Port Authority deputy chairman to secure Dermaga Merdeka Pelabuhan Labuan employment contract operator for Labuan Liberty Port Management Sdn Bhd, where his father and brother have stakes in the company. The offence was allegedly committed at the Transport Ministry headquarters, Jalan Tun Hussein, Precinct 4, Putrajaya between 2.30pm and 5.30pm on March 23, 2018.
The charge under Section 23 of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission Act 2009 carries a maximum 20-year jail term and a fine not less than five times the amount or value of the gratification, whichever is higher, upon conviction.Rozman's lawyer Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali however pleaded for a lower bail amount.The case is fixed for mention on Nov 19.
