KLANG: A bomoh has been jailed for eight months by the Magistrate’s Court here for cheating a nasi kukus (steamed rice) vendor and his wife of jewellery.

Mohd Izwan Ahmid, 34, was charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code for cheating the couple of 22 pieces of gold jewellery valued at RM22,910.

Mohd Izwan and his helper went to the vendor’s house in Rantau Panjang, Kapar the same day to treat the man’s wife.He told the couple he needed the jewellery to remove the “bad spell” that was on the gold ornaments that consisted of necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets. Mohd Irwan visited the family again on Sept 21 and handed them a small bundle wrapped in a yellow cloth and told them that it contained their gold items. When they opened it, they were taken aback to find it did not contain their possessions but what appeared to be imitation jewellery.
