The Minister for Justice has apologised to the mother of a young woman after images of her were shared without her consent days before she died.
Minister Heather Humphreys said she extended her sympathies to Ms Quigley's family and said "what happened was absolutely unacceptable". Minister Humphreys said she would be happy to talk to Ms Quigley's mother adding: "I really do want to say I'm very sorry for what happened, it shouldn't have happened."Coco's Law, otherwise known as the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act, was enacted on 10 February 2021.
Minister Humphreys said Commissioner Harris is dedicated to achieving high standards across the force and that there is a code of conduct in place for all members of the force, with published policies and procedures around the abuse of power for sexual gain.
Very sad loss of life caused by the actions of a bloody fool. Highlighting the disregard the guards have for people in their community. Glorified traffic wardens is all they are. This person should be prosecuted.
Apparently the Garda concerned resigned from the force prior to any disciplinary action been taken. Standard procedure really.
no where near enough there has to be consequences
Poor girl lost her life , and the Gardai negligently uploaded video of her online? Before the act I might add. Lovely how you slot in that COCOs law was Feb21 and can’t be applied here just in case anyone thought anyone should face consequences for contributory negligence cover
And the garda that shared it has now been sacked I assume? Apologies mean nothing without actions. He should have been sacked immediately. Sorry doesn't fix it.
Have they released the name of the garda member who uploaded the images?
