California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed new legislation meant to improve outcomes for birthing people and babies — and particularly for Black people, who face disproportionately high rates of complications and deaths in pregnancy and during and after childbirth.
“It is unacceptable that the maternal and infant mortality rate among Black and Indigenous communities remains significantly higher than the state average,” the governor said, adding that this legislation was “doubling down on our commitment to both reproductive and racial justice.
“The status quo cannot and will not continue,” said Dr. Akilah Weber, a state assembly member and co-author of the bill, who identified as a Black woman who has given birth two times.
Yes, pregnancy for women is dangerous. Most vulnerable to domestic violence then too!
California is the most liberal state in the US and somehow black mothers are dying at double the rate of the rest of the country? This has got to be an income/Healthcare problem or too many doctors move out there to be actors and aren't focused on their job

Black birthing people sounds like a term slave owners use to use to refer to Black female slaves. Stop dehumanizing women.
“Birthing people” lol. seems like the war on women has now transitioned to the left. I’m sure those women just love being marginalized by men with a mental disorder. Regardless - Sir Gavin has decreed that black mothers not die so much. Make it so serfs. You making him look bad.
