Police officers involved in 50 drug war cases may face criminal charges upon further investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Department of Justice (DOJ) said.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Sunday that the DOJ and the Philippine National Police discussed last Oct. 1 the findings on the second drug war review report.

“The DOJ thus informed the PNP that these cases will be endorsed to the NBI for case build-up and filing of criminal complaints if warranted by the evidence,” he added. Guevarra said the DOJ and NBI will have a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 5 regarding the deadline for the case build-up.
