The Supreme Court of Canada has decided former fashion mogul Peter Nygard, who is facing sex trafficking and racketeering charges in the U.S., will remain behind bars while he awaits his extradition hearing.

The Supreme Court delivered its ruling on Thursday morning, months after Nygard had applied for the court to challenge the ruling made in Manitoba that denied him bail.Nygard was arrested in Winnipeg in December 2020.

He was charged with nine counts in the Southern District of New York, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking of a minor, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, and two counts of transportation for purpose of prostitution.Nygard’s extradition hearing is scheduled to begin on Nov. 15.
