BRENDA BLETHYN, star of ITV detective drama Vera, has revealed her agony at being unable to help her 97-year-old mother-in-law when her home was flooded during lockdown.

"My mother-in-law is 97 and had several floods in her flat during lockdown.The award-winning actress went on to say that she'd spent most of her time during the pandemic cooking and sewing to pass the time, while not at work.Brenda Blethyn with her Vera co-star Kenny DoughtyBrenda will reprise her role of Vera for the 11th season of the drama, which will air tonight.
