CYCLISTS should be forced to display reg numbers just like motorists, a lawyer has claimed.
The figures were released a week after a man was jailed for causing fatal injuries to a pensioner when he Hugh Bladon, of the Alliance of British Drivers, added: “I am astonished that so many people have been fined as I see plenty getting away with it.“It should be made compulsory that cyclists wear helmets, and the helmets should have to show their registration number on the back. At the moment, they are unlucky if they get caught.”
The government is keen to get more people using bikes, and last week announced plans to rewrite the Highway Code to place cyclists second in a hierarchy of road users - below pedestrians, but above car drivers.
Calling him 'Mr Loophole' says it all, doesn't it? Meanwhile 87% of drivers break the speed limit - how have registration numbers stopped that? Why are there still tens of thousands of hit & run incidents involving drivers every year?

This is a guy who spends his working hours looking for loopholes in the law to get his clients away with motoring offences but wants to be a 'cycling bully' and pick on cyclists who cause very small numbers of injuries compared to motorists !
What utter nonesense. Cyclists are not the problem. Car van, bus & lorry drivers are the problem. Typical ignorance from the world's worst rag. Not fit for bog paper let alone chip paper.
