The leader of Take It Back Movement , Damilare Adenola, has vowed that his group and other protesters would storm the headquarters of Dunamis Church in Lugbe, Abuja on Sunday if the detained congregants are not released from the Department of State Services custody.
He also said his group was giving the Federal Government seven days to release their detained comrades. He said, “By Sunday we would storm Dunamis en masse to protest the unlawful detention if they are not released before then. We are going there to compel the G.O. to yield to the voices of the people.
“We are also giving a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to release these youths and everybody who is undergoing unlawful detention and punishment in the country for exercising their right as given by the constitution. We cannot be practising democracy and the government has been undemocratic, failure to do so, a mass nationwide protest would be called to compel this regime to heed the voice of justice and release these people.
He said, “The arrest and continued detention of these young people have no basis in law and are a contravention of their fundamental human rights to freedom of expression, assembly and freedom of movement as guaranteed under sections 39, 40 and 41 in the 1999 constitution and other international conventions and treaties to which Nigeria is a party.
“We had a meeting with the General Overseer and thought he was only interested in exonerating himself and clearing the name of the church. He told us he had given orders for them to be released. However, we have filed for the enforcement of the fundamental human rights of the detained persons in a joint suit involving the DSS and Pastor Paul Enenche.”All rights reserved.
