Speaking to News24 on Friday, Zikalala said that he believed that considering Zuma’s age and well being they believed he should be pardoned.Zikalala had one-on-one interactions with Ramaphosa on Friday updating him about violent protest across the province.Zikalala said they were not taking the situation lightly but “we don’t have a solution as yet”.Police have arrested 13 people in Empangeni on Friday morning for their part in the violent protests.

In heads of argument filed at the Constitutional Court this afternoon, just hours after the Pietermaritzburg High Court dismissed Zuma's urgent bid to stay his arrest and detention, the former president's advocate, Dali Mpofu, argues that it would be"in the interests of justice" for the apex court to rescind, reconsider, or substantially vary its"unprecedented" decision against the former president.

Mpofu continues to argue that, rather than convicting and sentencing Zuma, the Constitutional Court should have referred the contempt case against him to the National Prosecuting Authority instead – an approach he said had most recently been followed by the Supreme Court of Appeal, after an irate litigant sent it an insulting email.
