Georgia Gov. Kemp sharply criticized the Justice Dept. for suing his state over its new voting law. “The Department of Justice lawsuit...is legally and constitutionally dead wrong. Their faults and baseless accusations are quite honestly disgusting.'

June 25, 2021, 9:11 PM UTCGeorgia Gov. Brian Kemp sharply criticized the Department of Justice and Biden administration on Friday for suing his state over its new voting law.

The governor, who has championed and defended his state’s voting law as common-sense election reform, said that the lawsuit was a product of Democrats’ failure to pass the For the People Act this week and that the Biden administration was trying to force an “extreme agenda” on states. Kemp vowed to fight the lawsuit in court while portraying the legal challenge as a threat to conservatives everywhere.

We the people agree with the governor, anyone who can read can see the new law opens voting to more Americans. The Fed move is political and not based in law. Someone needs to be fired to help regain confidence in the doj.

WE the People in order to make this a more perfect union… Will NOT just stand idly by as YOU attempt to return OUR America back to having African Americans guessing the number marbles in a jar… We’re Coming for OURS!

Code for...we are screwed and our voter suppresion laws will not hold up in court.

Agreed. Should ask why is the US Justice department so eager to keep fraudulent voting rights?

Georgia's suppressive voting laws are legally and constitutionally dead wrong. The lies and baseless claims expressed by Georgia's GOP are quite honestly disgusting. Fixed it for you GovKemp.

We shall see !

Ha!

No, what’s “disgusting”, Governor, is keeping black/brown/low income Americans from voting all because you’re afraid of no longer having republicans in power. THAT is disgusting.

I can appreciate how you feel Brian since you deeply disgust me.

Where is natasharothwell when we need here!!!

Get them DOJ

Baseless accusations that directly quote portions of the law...

An objective DOJ? Yeah right. This country’s leadership and honest principles in many different ways are lost.

Sue, DOJ, SUE!

All of this chaos and division in our country due to one looser who can't accept defeat 👀

I guess Kemp is trying to skip the whole trial thingie with lawyers, judges, juries and such while going directly to the court of the Faux MAGAs Court of Opinion.

How is a lawsuit, challenging a law, by citing laws contrary to Georgia’s position and/or in support of DOJs position, in front of a court of law, an assault on the rule of law

This is what happens when you enact stupid laws, they get challenged. Too bad the cost of defending it will be on taxpayers and not the GOP.

From the guy who remained Secretary of State and presided over the gubernatorial election he himself was running in. Whatevs...

Good. Game up.

The Governor can have someone explain it in court.

See ya in court, GovKemp

Merrick Garland's Justice Department sues Georgia over its voting lawThe Justice Department announced Friday it is suing the state of Georgia over a voting law passed in March, alleging that the Republican-controlled state legislature intended to make it harder for minority voters to cast ballots in future elections. The business of American 🇺🇸government is suing one another. Wow, he said all that with a straight face. What a waste of federal taxpayer dollars. Pretty sure that a judge is going to tell the Feds that they aren’t allowed to interfere in an individual state’s voting process. Whether you agree with the GA rules or not, this is a slippery slope regarding State’s Rights.
