Justice Angela Otaluka of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting at Apo, Abuja, has sentenced former House of Representatives member, Farouk Lawan, to 19-year imprisonment for receiving $500,000 bribe from the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Limited, Femi Otedola.

She sentenced him seven years each on counts one and two, as well as five years on count three. The sentence is to run concurrently.
