Sky News contributor Caleb Bond says Western Australia police have been accessing personal COVID check-in data for use in their criminal investigations despite Premier McGowan telling Western Australians their data was "safe". "WA Police accessed the check-in data of more than 2,400 people," Mr Bond said. "In November last year, WA's Labor Premier Mark McGowan said this data would be used only for contact tracing," Mr Bond said.
In a Facebook post Premier McGowan said the data would be "stored securely" and be only accessible to "authorised Department of Health contact tracing personnel". "A month later, the police made their first request for check in data. And it was handed over, because McGowan's dopey government wrote the legislation, and the terms and conditions of the app, so that it was legal.
One more reason not use sign ins or apps invasion of our rights and privacy
I don't understand why people still believe any Govt or Police when they say that. We lost privacy years ago.
And just like that….people won’t use the app.
I would be safer from these moronic criminals tan concern myself about Police using any data necessary to do their job. If you toe the line you have no need for concern..
