The owner of a dog that savaged a five-year-old boy outside a supermarket, causing "horrific" injuries, has been ordered to pay him £2,000 compensation.
On Thursday, the judge at Warwick Crown Court, Recorder Charles Thomas, banned Wright from having a dog for life. He was sentenced to 16 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, with a 21:00 to 07:00 curfew for four months.Prosecutor Laura Hollingbery said before going inside the Sainsbury's store, Wright tied the dog's lead to a pillar and asked a staff member to keep an eye on it.
The animal savaged the boy's face and also bit his armpit as the mother hit it with her handbag and managed to pull the boy away.In 2017, she said it had bitten a woman to her arm outside Wright's home, and in September 2019, it was tied to railings outside the same Sainsbury's store when it lunged at a three-year-old boy.Debra White, defending, said Wright was of positive good character, having served in the Army for 14 years and been in regular employment since then.
The dogs rightly get put down but seems the smug owners, who I can hear saying ‘it’s ok the dog won’t hurt you’ get off far too lightly
Right thing too! If your dog is out of control, it's down to you! If it kills someone ,you will get a prison sentence! Because the way the courts look at it is ,the dog is under your control, what ever the dog gets up to,is your responsibility!
Why wasn’t it on a lead .what about the child it frightened .will a child trust a dog again .if a dog is a worry off a lead .then keep the lead on it .do u blam the owner or the dog
Again another it’s not the dog it’s the owner bs Staffys are a ticking time-bomb bloody devil dogs
feel sorry for the boy, maybe £2,000 is not enough
Staffies should be banned
Dogs should by law be always on a lead, and if in doubt a muzzle too. The owner is always to blame, they train them, they are responsible! Poor little boy will never get over this. Disgusting so called punishment.
The owners of the labrador that attacked my niece, surgery required, didn't even apologise and the police did sod all!
So the guy got away with it three times! & left his victims with a lifetime of scars & trauma. £2k is an insult. He doesn't come across as someone with good character regardless whether he served in the army! Feel for the victims
