Fianna Fáil Seanad spokesperson on housing Senator Mary Fitzpatrick said that housing has “always been a number one priority” for the party. “There are far too many people who cannot afford to buy their own home or even a secure rental so we are securing that in the legislation.”#Open journalism No news is bad news Support The Journal Your contributions will help us continue to deliver the stories that are important to you“We want the State to make a permanent commitment that every citizen has a right to their home” she added.

Must be an election soon.

Hmm ! See if it happens considering voted down oppositions bill and Varaker denialist comments about facts of situation yesterday.

A right to housing.... how does that work so? Increased taxation.... ah feck off...why would I pay my mortgage lpt etc if that’s the case

I prefer pan-frying over brining any day.

Any Constitutional amendment will be pointless unless it gives the State the power to control house prices and to control rents

Right to housing, sure, why not, affordable right, probably not.

Leo the leak will probably insist on there being no right to what he calls free housing !

Must read the small print on this 🤔

The only thing that matters is the legal definition and interpretation of the word housing in the legislation.

A toothless bite; as a Constitutional Law graduate, the courts will not interfere with matters of public funds due to the separation of powers. It'll ultimately mean nothing.

Dumb is as dumb does fiannafailparty fiannafail

Everyone has a right to a house it’s not like u can live without one 🤪🤷🏽‍♂️

A right to housing, or a right to subsidised housing ?

Remember their plan is to add another 1 million ppl to the country by 2040. Simon Coveney said 500k of these will be foreigners.. Good luck getting a house idiots.

Wasnt it inserted into the 1916 proclamation?

Why would any one pay there mortgage then?

FFGG robbing the ideas of smaller parties that they've ignored for years while causing the crisis they now claim to know how to fix, probably all due to the increased support for those devils in SF throughout the rent generation.

One for everyone in the audience

So the State can be sued if they don't provide a house. Think I'll sell up. pocket the cash and demand a brand new house

Fine print if you pay property tax

Was this not a pb4p motion that passed the 2nd stages of the dail? What has FF to do with this, or is it something totally different?

1st reaction..Right what are they up to? 2nd reaction..Jays they'll make some shite outta this.

And Tents at Galway Races!

Fianna Fáil didn't start anything...this motion has been pushed by sinnfeinireland and pb4p long before fiannafailparty even dreamed of it
