Deirdre Morley, of Parson’s Court, Newcastle in Co Dublin, has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the murders of nine-year-old Conor, seven-year-old Darragh, and three-year-old Carla McGinley on 24 January 2020.
She had a breakdown in July 2019 and had very extensive dealings with different mental health professionals after that, but in the days prior to the death of the children, Mr McGinley and her extended family had believed she was improving. This, Ms Lawlor said, transpired not to be the case. The court heard she was in contact with her husband and others during the day and there was nothing in her demeanour that gave him any cause for concern.
Mr McGinley came home to find his wife being cared for by paramedics and went into his house to find the bodies of his three children. A second note, beside her eldest son’s body said she could see no future with "disturbance and mental illness". She said she had to take the children with her. She added that she was broken and could not be fixed and that she could not live with herself. She said she was "so sorry".

Give her the option of firing squad or electrocution?
Tragic case. Noticeable the double standards all the same. When a man does it he's evil as are all men but when a woman does it there's sympathy and understanding for the accused.
Such a horrifically tragic case. I ache to think what those poor kids went through in their final moments.
