Progress on women's rights in Afghanistan could be at risk with the withdrawal of US and international troops, even if the Taliban doesn't fully take power, according to a newly declassified US intelligence report

The National Intelligence Council assessed that the progress made over the last two decades"probably owes more to external pressure than domestic support, suggesting it would be at risk after coalition withdrawal, even without Taliban efforts to reverse it.""Although the Taliban's fall officially ended some policies , many continue in practice even in government-controlled areas," it stated. The two-page report, declassified at the request of Sen.

"However, the NIC report found that while the Taliban's"desires for foreign aid and legitimacy might marginally moderate its conduct over time," it is likely that"in the early days of reestablishing its Emirate, the Taliban probably would focus on extending control on its own terms.

Time for them to stand up on their own, we've been there long enough!

We are still in so many countries. Trump had the right idea to make them pay for protection.

What risk I dnt blv it it's about occupying Afghan illigaly and looting their natural resources and causing instability in the region nothing else not feeling protecting the opium they failed and dissapointed US must leave and go back home

Liberals cannot save women from something they refuse to be saved from maybe we should just leave that country let's just get out of that country right now stop putting our men in danger and let them go back home to their girlfriends because there is no hope for that country

Sorry but we cannot babysit everyone in other countries, this is fighting centuries of old ways of thinking, that women are not important.

Women’s rights are human rights. That being said, USA has overstepped too often and does not belong in the role of nation building and regime change.

Many women choose to be a part of that religion in that area and follow their traditions it is sad for them but maybe there's nothing we can really do

Thanks to Donald Trump who made the withdraw deal with the Talibans, withdrew from Syria, Iraq and now Afghanistan tedcruz SenTedCruz marcorubio

US report: Taliban will likely curtail Afghan women's rightsA U.S. intelligence assessment says any gains in women’s rights in Afghanistan in the last two decades will be at risk if the Taliban retake power after the U.S. withdraws later this year. Haha this is the new justification for staying in Afghanistan. Newsflash: they don’t want us there. The fascists' and terrorist Americans are only concerned in tearing apart the dress of women, and call it ''RIGHTS''. Rest in peace. Afghans know too good how to handle their affairs. You the terrorists gave Afghanistan a blood bath, and now your concerns are well known? So in 20 years they havent been able to train enough people to protect themselves? Trillions of dollars wasted.
