The AFL has rejected Port Adelaide’s request to wear their black and white striped “prison-bar” guernsey in the round eight Showdown against rivals Adelaide. | AnthColangelo

Port Adelaide have not ruled out taking legal action so the club can wear their “prison bar” guernsey in Showdown matches against rivals Adelaide.

When asked about the possibility of legal action, Power chief executive Matthew Richardson said on Thursday: “We’d have to take that back in [to discuss].The AFL said that it determined a signed agreement by the Power and Collingwood in 2007 did not allow for Port Adelaide to wear the traditional strip in 2021, which it has worn traditionally in the SANFL.

In a statement following the AFL’s decision Port Adelaide president David Koch said the issue “isn’t going away”. “Our frustration sits squarely with the AFL, not Collingwood. We believe our request is reasonable. This issue isn’t just about Port Adelaide. It is about the passion and connection that ALL fans have for their clubs.”

Taking back Port of Darwin on 'just terms' would be money 'well spent' | Sky News AustraliaAustralians would agree taking back the Port of Darwin from China on 'just terms' with 'just compensation' would be money well spent, according to Liberal Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells.\n\n'Well I think Australians would agree taking back the Port of Darwin on just terms and paying just compensation would be money well spent,' she said.\n\n'Now we don't know the terms of the lease because that's only within the purview of the Northern Territory government - but I believe under just terms that the Port should be taken back and I've advocated that.\n\n'In the recent hearing of the foreign relations legislation I actually put those questions to the Northern territory government and I asked whether just terms would be the value of the lease - which is 94 years - or other form of just compensation.' Senator_CFW Maybe the LNP should pay any compensation above the original price, I’m sure Australian would support that. Senator_CFW I can’t wait till we take the port of Shanghai and raise the Australian flag. Senator_CFW Get those dickhead Politicians that approved it and the PM at the time, Turnbull, to compensate them out of their own pockets, this deal should never have even been considered in the first place.
