Lawyer SN Nair says it is an abuse of power because Section 505b is not a seizable offence. FMTNews Anwar Police BukitAman

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said it was unnecessary for him to be hauled up to Bukit Aman simply to give a witness statement over the probe into a leaked audio clip allegedly of him and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The opposition leader also said it was serious that unknown individuals could get a hold of audio clips of private conversations between top leaders, “particularly the home minister”. “I call on the police to focus on curbing crimes. They need to find Jho Low and Nicky Liow, don’t be distracted by other things and become a political tool,” he told reporters after giving his statement.

SN Nair, another lawyer of Anwar’s, said it was an abuse of power to summon Anwar to Bukit Aman to give his statement because Section 505b was not a seizable offence.Anwar added: “They said it’s only a witness statement, so why drag me here? Just see me at my house or my office.
