Woolworths has announced some of its staff will be wearing bodycams in a new trial to help reduce the level of abuse aimed at employees. Good move?

Reports of abuse inside Woolworths stores have risen twofold following the coronavirus outbreak, which saw a number of brawls over toilet paper and other reduced supplies break out between customers.

The three-month trial is being implemented in 11 stores across NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. The new Woolworths Staff Camera at Woolworths’ Rosehill Store.

“The first weekend of the trial one of our members said they saw a significant reduction in the number of reportable incidents,” SDA NSW secretary Bernie Smith said.

It's their way to monitor staff.

It's mental health illness. A poor strategy. The company should address the customer frustration. It should: 1. Make things easier to find 2. Advertise less red meat - red meat consumption is linked to aggression - it's bull meat we buy. And it's full of steroids.

Wow! I always thought it was Big Brother watching us...but nooooo it’s the checkout chick at Woolies.

How sad is this that people just think they have a right to be abusive to a staff member because they are not happy about something. Clearly the days of treating each other with respect and decently has long gone
