The SCA has thrown out his appeal against a judgment that ruled the state is not liable to cover his legal costs

The Supreme Court of Appeal has rejected an appeal by Jacob Zuma aimed at getting the state to pay his costs in a graft case, the latest in a string of legal defeats for the former president.

The corruption case relates to actions he undertook in his personal capacity and the state shouldn’t be liable for his legal fees, the SCA said in a judgment handed down on Tuesday that upheld a Pretoria High Court ruling. Zuma, who was ordered to pay the state’s costs, was first charged with graft in 2005 when he was deputy president and reached a deal with the state attorney whereby the government would pay private lawyers to defend him.

Jacob Zuma suffers another heavy court lossFormer president Jacob Zuma suffered another court blow when the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein dismissed his appeal against a judgment which ruled that the state is not liable to cover his legal costs. Zuma will never win a court case for obvious reasons. When are you reporting on Pravin Gordhan? Isn’t that breaking news? Shouldn’t we be waking up to that? The government must lay claim on the pension payments, but as usual the anc/alliance leadership's will do nothing to recover the taxpayers money from zuma, as they are united in corruption
