'All of the time, we are forced to do the worst and heaviest work because we are migrants and don’t have access to rights and because we don’t speak English.' Youth Against Racism and Inequality (YARI) activist Haritha Olaganathan writes about this issue:

Haritha Olaganathan Youth Against Racism and Inequality A WORLD SLOWED-DOWN has exposed the deep-rooted inequalities in the Irish state, and we must grapple with the fact that the ‘land of a thousand welcomes’ is one that consciously ostracises people of colour, immigrants and Travellers in the world of work.

Migrant Rights Centre Ireland found that 62% of meat plant workers faced discrimination in the factories. One worker noted: This peddles the notion that people of colour should expect discrimination and to tolerate not being tolerated. Thankfully the hairdressers refused to give in to this blatant racism, but this discrimination takes serious tolls on young Travellers’ mental health, and further propagates the number of businesses who refuse to recruit them.

Only black lives matter

If bed was work they’d sleep on the floor

Pretty sure if you are legal, have good qualifications and Speak English you will earn a good wage... if you want. If your skills only make u eligible to work low skilled labour, train up, learn a trade. Then make some dollar. Dont arrive with your hands out

Go home black and yellow, be homeward bound and throw off the shackles of these green and pleasant pastures you so vehemently despise.

Well said Haritha and great work YARI. You're addressing racism head on and with more young people seeing the capitalist system for the unequal, racist system it is, the future is looking good. ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

Airport does retutn flights 👍👍🙊🙊🙊

That rag of a banner off our bridge mutts

I've been laying concrete for 16 years and never seen them at it. They don't know what heavy work is. Up to 36 hr shifts between laying the concrete and then power floating it without stopping only to eat.

I'm just going to throw it out there that I've never seen an African working as a labourer on a site.... Seen plenty relaxing in site security huts though.

They were advised to leave. Simple as that. You got to listen to a good advice.

Reading through the comments here.... racism is alive and well in Ireland!! What a fucking bunch of xenophobes. A disgrace and an embarrassment to the rest of us. Worse than a bunch of hicks.

Why do people arrive in countries and then do nothing but complain about them just leave if don't like it. Its funny how polish and other european migrants can come and work here without complaining but african and asia migrants complain the most why is that.

😂😂😂 absolutely comical I haven't seen any work the worst or heaviest work? Did a person of sound mind write this crap or is this a prank. ?

Never heard so much garbage in my life working in construction 30 years eastern European workers paid very very well but have only seeing one black person working in construction 🤔

quite incredible how many far-left Marxists get a platform on the journal. It must be a requirement at this stage.

Can somebody please come and collect the fashy dads collectively shitting their pants in the replies....

White lives matter !!!

I'm a Mason of 24 years, I'm yet to find an african or Arab that will do heavy work.

Mmmm. I wonder are they in low paid jobs because they arrive to the country with no education or degrees etc. I work with thousands of immigrants in Construction who all take home over €1k a week. You want well paid jobs you either a) work for it or b) are educated for it

Nobody is tying you to a relationship, a country, nor a job. You have free will and you are responsible for your own choices.

Same for all immigrants to all countries surely, wonder how I’d get on in Nigeria

What a load of bollock
