A growing number of world leaders advocate making ecocide a crime before the International Criminal Court, to serve as a “moral line” for the planet. Published in partnership with insideclimate

that says many of the spills have come as a result of sabotage and theft, and that the company has been working with stakeholders to clean up the pollution identified by the U.N. Environment Program.

“That could make a difference in corporate boardroom conversations,” Mackintosh said. insideclimate How many people can they arrest in the US in one go? Do they have a jail that big?

insideclimate More coverage of ecocide please. The president of Brazil for instance would need to be brought before The Hague tribunal for allowing the Amazon to burn.

insideclimate I know this is a minority opinion, but I think NO crime should be designated as 'international' no matter what the consequences are. It should always be blamed on either a particular nation's government or a specific company/corporation. This includes this 'ecocide' business.

insideclimate You mean that the self proclaimed stewards of the earth aren't doing their job?
