Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday continued to rail against businesses protesting a new election law in Georgia, urging them not to weigh in on politics but carving out an exception for campaign contributions.Senate Republicans policy luncheon in the subway of the U.S. Capitol on February 23, 2021 in Washington, DC.
But McConnell hedged, stating that businesses have “a right to participate in the political process,” specifying that he’s “not talking about political contributions” in his warnings, calling them “fine, it’s legal, it’s appropriate. I support that.” Instead, McConnell said, companies should not weigh in an “a highly incendiary issue” and “[say], ‘pass what we want you to pass, or we’ll take out major league all-star game to another state’,” a shot at MLB’s decision to relocate the all-star game from Georgia to Colorado.
Republicans have railed against the MLB decision and criticism from companies like United, Delta and Coca Cola, with federal lawmakers
He just wants their money and for them to shut up.
