The Senate parliamentarian ruled Democrats may use a procedural tool known as reconciliation to pass more legislation, a spokesman for Chuck Schumer said, which could clear the way for passage of an infrastructure bill without Republican support

WASHINGTON -The U.S. Senate parliamentarian ruled on Monday that Democrats may use a procedural tool known as reconciliation to pass more legislation this year, a spokesman for Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said, which could clear the way for passage of an infrastructure bill without Republican support.

But Monday’s ruling by Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough means they can do so with just a simple majority in the Senate, by treating the measure as a revision of budget legislation. Doing so would bypass a potential Republican filibuster, in which legislation would need 60 votes to pass. Biden last week proposed a $2 trillion infrastructure plan, which Republicans have said they would oppose.

YES....Let’s do it and show the Republicans we are not sitting on our hands.

MarginalizedO Now we just need JoeManchinWV's permission.

Yea and what about playing fair. The last administration would reach for a pen and the Democrats were up in arms. Now the Republicans say no fair and you Democrats pass laws in your favor. We are all screwed for the next four years. Less take home money because of tax hikes

Of course he did.

And when Republicans use the same thing down the road the Dems will cry foul. SMH

Why don’t you report on the SURGE at the Border and the Crisis ?

Democrats can replace the parliamentarian and pass any bill they want, but they won't. They need an excuse.

Slamming through Schumer, the asshole. A Bane upon democrats. For selling out their country. It's up to we veterans to set it right. Treat traitors as they must treated; to gallows, And I say march forthwith

No surprise here. He kept his job.

Isn't it a bit funny, when the Democrats need to force something through congress? They do so when some great calamity has struck our country, such as school shootings, or any number of things. Or an act terrorism. This system of government cannot go. Tick, Tock Tyranny.

Don't forget that voting rights legislation can't be passed with reconciliation. Get rid of the filibuster.

Additional budget reconciliations help the Democrats overhaul taxes to a realistic level. My only concern is Joe Manchin who appears to be a DINO.

At the age of 8, he was accidentally stoned in the eye by one of his classmates. This was very traumatizing for Mukit and his parents. He set them back not only academically but financially. Doctors concluded he would need a corrective surgery.

The single-party rule has been so successful throughout history.

Does this face 'reconcile' the 'Russia collution narrative'? Or this this face easily show... keep me in 'power'?

Does that mean more US Dollars being printed?

▌014 OBAMA: “if the majority chooses to end the filibuster, if they choose to change the rules and put an end to democratic debate, then the fighting, & the bitterness, and the gridlock will only get worse.” Democrats used filibuster 327 times in 2020 while RNC used 1. ▌014

Imagine governing by a democratic principle where the majority rules even if its by one vote. The only weapon the GOP has is obstruction in a party so bereft of ideas they can't even agree on how to obstruct in the end.

Make it rain, baby!!!!

Then do it

Biden called it infrastructure and will be doing a massive spending of $2T but the real traditional infrastructure in his plan cost only $621B and now he wants it to just pass it with his colleagues and burden Americans with massive debt and high taxes.

Watch the support for Dems fall in the midterm elections.

dmightyangel Sound nice among democrats, that's until they realise Republicans too will explore that option when the table turns.

This is great. It’s time to move forward with or without republicans. They’ve been nothing but dead weight for decades now.

This is where they make big promises but we get crap legislation eg ACA

Do it, like Yeaterday! Build America and take the darn credit
