Controversial statues are being removed amid worldwide civil rights protests, but there is some disagreement about what to do with them.The Virginia Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Charlottesville can remove two statues of Confederate generals, which civil rights activists say paid homage to America's history of slavery and racism.
The law"did not provide the authority for the City to erect the Statues, and it does not prohibit the City from disturbing or interfering with them," Goodwyn wrote. The State Supreme Court also ruled that the circuit court erred in ordering the city to pay $365,000 in plaintiffs' attorney fees and costs.

Another waste of time & efforts. I bet you a million $ that if you asked the typical black, or even white, person about any of these statues they'd have no idea who they were or what they stood for. Activists should focus their efforts on real probs: ed, crime, & contraception.
Would it be more appropriate to change the inscription on the statue stating the facts than destroying the statues? Just asking.
I guess removing Confederate statues has higher priority than fixing the dire economic conditions that many Black Americans are situated in.
