Derek Chauvin's trial over the death of George Floyd resumed on Friday morning in Minneapolis. Lt. Richard Zimmerman, the top Minneapolis Police homicide department officer, told jurors that Chauvin's use of force in arresting Floyd was 'totally unnecessary'. Zimmerman, who responded to the crime scene after Floyd's deadly arrest, said he had never been trained to 'kneel on the neck of somebody who's cuffed and in the prone position'.
