Justice advocates have called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest of a young Anaywan and Birripa woman by NSW Police as she was having an anxiety attack - via NITV.

Tarneshia Widders was in the midst of an anxiety attack when she was approached by police in Redfern last Thursday night.

"I just felt so helpless as a mum, trying to keep calm and de-escalate and make sure the girls were okay.... I was just so frustrated. NSW Police said Ms Widders spat towards them and told them she would run away. They said they pushed her back and restrained her as a result of her behaviour, and called for back-up.
