A Federal High Court in Lagos State has barred the Federal Government from blocking SIM cards not linked to National Identity Numbers next month.

The first to fourth defendants in the suit are the Federal Government, Attorney General of the Federation, The NCC and the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy. The court ruled that the ultimatum of April 9, 2021, be halted as the timeline is grossly inadequate and will not only cause severe hardship, but will likely infringe on the fundamental rights of Nigerians to freedom of expression as guaranteed by Section 39 and Section 44 of the 1999 Constitution.

We don't have a serious NigeriaGov , if we have, it is the communication network that should be registering people free without sress

Actually it is good to have Identification number, but not by threatening to block people's number, is actually a welcome development

Corruption is in a full blown tree in Nigeria. The staff working here liberated thieves & PoliceNG officialEFCC have refused to arrest them... Shame to Buhari's govt

Lol.... please mention one court order they have adhered to ?

The court gave 2 months extension from the date of judgt. Why this? 'I further appeal to you to advise the honourable minister to review his stand on the ultimatum for the registration of SIM Cards with NIN beyond the duration declared by the honourable court to at least a year'.

Nigerian Goverment is so irresponsible

This means nothing for a government that has a reputation for disobeying court orders.
