George Floyd's family and attorneys took the knee for eight minutes and 46 seconds at 8.46 local time, ahead of the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin. Get the latest on this story:

She is a police dispatcher, who was working at the time of George Floyd's death. She says she dispatched officers to Cup Foods on 25 May 2020 - the location where Mr Floyd had been on the day in question. What do prosecutors need to prove?Speaking to Sky News earlier today Professor Jim Coleman, of Duke University, said that the charge of second degree murder means prosecutors need to prove that, while assaulting Mr Floyd - a felony crime - Chauvin caused his death.

Assistant Attorney General Matthew Frank, a member of the prosecution team, is getting Ms Scurry to lay out her job role to the jury - including what is at her desk. Derek Chauvin is in the dock but there’s a real sense here, the American justice system on trial too. Mr Floyd was moved back outside. Later on, investigators found pills in the back of the squad car which were made of methamphetamine and fentanyl, and had Mr Floyd's DNA on them.Paramedics took Mr Floyd to a separate location in order to try to resuscitate him because of the size of the crowd present.

Mr Floyd bought a packet of cigarettes with money which store clerks found to be counterfeit. He then went to his car.The clerks called the police and described Mr Floyd as"drunk" and said he"could not control himself". The attorney says there"are always two sides to a story" - and that all the evidence will need to be examined by the jury.Chauvin 'had hands around George Floyd's neck'

Pathologists have five manners of death to choose from: Natural, accident, suicide, homicide and undetermined.Jerry Blackwell, who is prosecuting for the state of Minnesota, says that the jury will hear evidence that damage to George Floyd's heart was not responsible for his death - despite there being damage to one of his arteries.

In the disturbing footage, bystanders can be heard telling the police - including Derek Chauvin - to get off Mr Floyd.Witnesses can be heard saying"he is not responsive right now" and calling for officers to check the pulse of Mr Floyd. Then, Mr Floyd's limp body is seen being rolled on to a gurney before being taken away to an ambulance.Prosecutor Jerry Blackwell says his case will be supported largely by eyewitness evidence.

Mr Blackwell goes on to state that the incident was instigated by Mr Floyd's use of a counterfeit $20 note - but there is no evidence to suggest that Mr Floyd knew it was not real money.Mr Blackwell is laying out a timeline of events that happened on the day George Floyd died - including that Mr Floyd said"I can't breath" 27 times.

Derek Chauvin trial: defense claims bad heart and drug use killed George FloydDr David Fowler, testifying for the defense, also said vehicle exhaust may have played a part in Floyd’s death Since his cause of death to them is drug and bad heart why can't they volunteer to be handcuffed and let someone sit on the neck for 9.29 m and see what will happen? This “expert” witness is hypothesizing using generic statistics on a new cause of death. Let’s bring inthe Sacklers and find out how their pushing oxycodone caused his addiction, or the state and drs for poor medical service for Blacks? Court tv is treating this as a joke. Everything & anything apart from an Act of God. Mind you, Dr Fowler mentioned the direction of wind when claiming carbon monoxide was contributory factor in the 'innocent' death of Mr Floyd, who happened by accident to be a 'very tall and robust' person of colour. Wait for it!
