A 59-year-old man has appeared in court charged with possession of a pipe bomb, firearms and ammunition in Kenmare, Co Kerry

A 59-year-old man has been before the district court charged with possession of a pipe bomb, firearms and ammunition in Kenmare, Co Kerry at the weekend.

Ivan Gilder of Gearha North, Blackwater Bridge, Kenmare, Co Kerry was arrested during an operation involving the garda Special Detective Unit and members of the defense forces. In addition to being charged with a pipe bomb, he was also charged with possession of a .22 rifle, an under and over shotgun and shotgun cartridges.
