this bill is a direct attack on free speech. patel strives to attack anyone who doesn’t agree with her warped world vision & has proven time after time incapable of hearing. her arrogance not be allowed free reign to destroy our democracy

As always :- 'Police seek and preserve public favor not by catering to the public opinion but by constantly demonstrating absolute impartial service to the law.”

We are in the thick of Covid - does a peak of 1800 dead a day not resonate with anyone with a brain? Fringe political activism and social media lead to over-empowerment and often stand in the way of actually fixing things properly. Newspapers just gullible when regurgitating it

Totally agree, under normal circumstances. At the moment, though, there's a global pandemic. Wilfully spreading the virus harms society and is currently (and rightly so) against the rules. The Guardian views the world through binary spectacles these days. Readership must be down.

The fascists like Patel pushing this legislation are extremely dangerous. Didn’t she commit treason anyway? How is she in government? Wake the fuck up UK before its too late.

The MP's make the Law......the Police just enforce it as it's their job to do so.....don't blame and villainise the Police for crap Laws.

MissSultryBelle It is unacceptable for people to not give a damn whom they might infect with Covid because they feel a need to protest. They can always write to their MP or the letter pages of the “Grauniad”.

Unless it's a 'bad' protest that is not approved of by the powers that be ? Am I right ?

If a protest is banned for safety or Covid reasons and protestors ignore it ... they are criminals !!! Simples !!! 😳😳😳

It takes an awful lot of ‘brass neck’ to pass laws and then blame the police for enforcing them. Seems that introspection is not encouraged in parliament

MPs have criminalised seeing loved ones, there is no point in MPs trying to cherry pick. Accept or reject lockdown rules, but do not try to cast one need above another. SteveBakerHW

No , that's the job of the MPs. And then to complain about the laws that they enacted.

Is the police criminalising? or caught up in a spiral? They’re seduced, even indoctrinated to be the bad guys, and if you say it long and hard enough people will believe it, even abt themselves. That’s not why people join the force. Thank you for your service! sallyBarnes3

Obviously

This isn't a robbery, it's a protest against the money in the vault.

We have criminalised seeing loved ones, there is no point in MPs trying to cherry pick. Accept or reject lockdown rules, but do try to cast one need above another.

Ironically making it illegal to protest should itself always be a reason to protest!

Police don’t make the laws.

Don’t MP’s make the laws?

👁️

If you commit a crime during the protest it still makes you a criminal, protests do not grant immunity as some think.

But the NHS and Sadiq Khan said 'Stay at home'

Can we go somewhere today?
