A 4pm downpour in Petaling Jaya on March 20 resulted in a flash flood in Section 51a, Petaling Jaya.

A hawker who did not want to be named said water rose up to"thigh-level" and added that the issue has been plaguing the area for more than 20 years.

“We have raised our concerns with our area councillor and the Petaling Jaya City Council but it has yet to be addressed.“We suspect the cause of the flood is a clogged drain behind Jalan 227. “This has to stop as it is affecting us. In December, some of our refrigerators became faulty due to the floodwaters, ” the hawker said.A video of the flash flood inside the food court is making the rounds of social media.

Items such as plates can be seen floating in the floodwaters while traders scramble to try and rescue their items.
