The resolution calls for human rights abusers in the bloody civil war to be held to account.

Following international pressure, the then Sri Lankan government in 2015 committed to investigate violations and hold war crimes trials supported by foreign judges, as part of a consensus resolution at the UNHRC.

Mr Rajapaksa led the war effort as the powerful defence secretary under his elder brother Mahinda, who was president from 2005 to 2015."The Sri Lankan government is not resisting any form of accountability within our constitution. Our constitution does not provide [options] for foreign judges," the current foreign minister, Dinesh Gunawardena, told the BBC as the UNHRC session was about to begin.

In a scathing report released last month, the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, said: "Nearly 12 years on from the end of the war, domestic initiatives for accountability and reconciliation have repeatedly failed to produce results, more deeply entrenching impunity, and exacerbating victims' distrust in the system.

Another issue the BBC raises that 99% of the UK population couldn’t give two shiny sh*ts about. We are not the colonial power, nor have we been for 65 years.

Uk and america guna team up and dethrone their government shoulder to shoulder like always?

Wat about Human rights abuses in Iraq ?! Iran changing Iraq demographic map, by eliminating the Sunni population from their towns and replaced by Shia from Iran + Afghanistan+Pakistan. Some Province been taken by the Iranian, & the right full owner be killed if they go back.

This is great to see but rich of the UK on calling out human rights abuses when they sell arms to Saudi

. Thank You, UK. GOOD WORK!!... There Is Far Too- Much Abuse, Of Human-Rights, Around The World.. And, Sri Lanka, Is One Of The Worst Violators. .
