The Kyle Rittenhouse story: He was a 'sweet' teenager. Then he killed 2 men in Kenosha. Now he's a right-wing hero.

"Clearly," Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis later explained, the officers at the scene were "not seeing him as a suspect or a threat of any kind." Kyle's family moved repeatedly, apparently unable to pay the rent. Liens and eviction records filed in the Lake County Circuit Court indicate that they owed money to several landlords. Their last known address was a small apartment complex tucked behind an industrial park in the town of Antioch.

Kyle deeply admired police officers and joined a cadet program that gave him a uniform and hands-on training. It's no surprise, then, that Kyle spent his teenage years idolizing those charged with protecting the weak and standing up to bullies: the police. As a police cadet, Kyle was eligible to receive basic firearms training and to ride along with officers on patrol. He also joined the fire cadets, who met every other week for hands-on instruction and accompanied firefighters on calls.

In the handful of interviews he has given, Kyle comes across as bold and self-assured. He is articulate when he speaks and was confident enough in Kenosha to bark friendly commands at police officers, journalists, protesters, and armed vigilantes more than twice his age. Kenosha erupted. During the days, the protests remained largely peaceful; in the evenings they devolved into mayhem and violence. For three nights in a row, rioters torched cars and razed buildings, leaving businesses in ruins and residents homeless. Police fired back with rubber bullets and tear gas, and Wisconsin's governor activated the National Guard.

Throughout the night, Kyle was calm and assertive as he hollered out offers for medical aid and chatted with police officers and journalists. In numerous social-media videos, he could be seen asking protesters if they were injured, and misrepresenting himself as a certified EMT. Kyle's lawyers say he was "legally entitled to open-carry the firearm under Wisconsin law," citing a provision that allows minors to carry rifles and shotguns for hunting. Prosecutors have brushed the argument aside, alleging that Kyle was "hunting humans, not deer." State law, they argue, is clearly intended to bar minors from possessing dangerous weapons.

He killed a sex offender and a guy with domestic violence charges he's a hero

These long beards are so unattractive

Headline conveniently leaves out that Rittenhouse was running from an attacker when he fired his first shot. Then he had to run from a mob who viciously attacked him. But, yahoo media doesn’t surprise me anymore.

He's a murderer

Kyle, a mixed up pampered 17-year-old, now 18, who confused video games with real life. He needed help making the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Now all he is going to get is a prison term. He’s fooked.

You just omit the part where they were chasing him and attacked him first? The second guy in clear view of the camera attacked Rittenhouse on the ground, he was trying to bludgeon the back of his skull with the metal trucks on his skate board. Self defense.

your journalists r extremely untalented if this is their best lol. weak journalism

Doubt he was a sweet teenager. He was probably shy, awkward, easily led, and paranoid. He was probably a sweet kid but by time he was a teenager things obviously changed dramatically. You don't become obsessed with guns and uber patriotic paranoia overnight.

Guess he wasn't so sweet after all. He's a murderer and a domestic terrorist. He's not a hero, he's a zero.

Killing makes America great? AmeriKKKa is really messed up.
