Man who killed his wife in lockdown given 'unduly lenient' five-year jail term, Labour MP Harriet Harman says

Five years in prison for a man who killed his wife in lockdown is "unduly lenient", an MP has said.

He admitted manslaughter by diminished responsibility, saying "I flipped out" and "didn't know what came over me".Ms Harman, a former Solicitor General and Minister for Justice, tweeted she would ask the Attorney General to refer it to the Court of Appeal as an "unduly lenient sentence".

Williams had not slept for several days after the start of restrictions in March because he was worrying over money, coronavirus and his health. While being driven to the police station, Williams told officers: "It wasn't murder and I didn't mean to murder her.

Wtf should be life

If he hadn’t admitted it he may have gotten away with it. How rigorous do you thing PMs are at the moment? Quick scan and done.

Not only do they need to look at the length of sentence but also where he will serve it. If he truly has a mental health disorder where he has moments of loss of control and violent outbursts then he needs the help afforded to him by a secure hospital not a prison.

The government are concerned about domestic abuse during Covid lockdown and this is the extent of their concern shown with this woman’s murder. Life is cheap to the government!

He should of got life

Equalìþy

5 years.. Probably done nearly a year on remand..1.5 to go and he's free.

Yes, only five days into lockdown. Sentence does seem unduly lenient, but who are we to judge?

And 10 years if you lie about going to Portugal.

Well MP's may have a brush; but its not big enough. Still it is their cesspit maybe run by far too many; lenient judges as prison is no deterrent hence why those who we lock up; they want it (or seem to). Turf out a few do gooders as clearly attracting criminal intentions.

Murder / manslaughter his wife is still dead god bless her and what he gets 5 years, our system is broken and is stacked against victims not the offender's its about time we got tough on law breakers

Do you not think the family have been through enough... the family actually supported dad through the trial..who benefits from locking him away for years and years .... no one

Should have passed the remote

So what this means is - you can lose your temper in an argument and kill your wife/partner and get a light sentence because ypu ' Flipped out ' ! Unbelievable.

He strangled her in the house, she managed to break free, grab keys. He followed her into the porch and finished the job. That’s not manslaughter. That’s murder. That poor lady 😡

I will never forget you in my life, you changed my life financially, may God grant you all your heart desires markdonaldAmeli

Absolutely disgusting. He killed his wife ! He deserves life.Where is the justice for her family!

I wonder how many women shown leniency she has complained about? I think I can guess.
