Here\u0027s your daily update with everything you need to know on the novel coronavirus situation in B.C.

3 p.m. – Health officials are set to share latest figures on COVID-19 in B.C.

B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said seven more people died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.Henry also noted that there are four new cases of the highly contagious UK variant of the virus identified in the B.C. Three of the cases are linked to same traveler. “This is a person who has not known to be to have traveled, or to have connection with a traveler,” Henry said. “So we are still investigating where this person might have contracted this virus … As you know, we do have concerns that some of these variants, particularly the UK , may allow the virus to spread more easily.”Premier John Horgan has sought legal advice to find out whether his government has the constitutional power to ban non-essential travel into the province.

While public health office recommend against travel within the province, it is not law, and people are free to come into B.C. from other provinces and not quarantine.
