The Federal High Court in Abuja has been asked to among others compel President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the nation’s Service Chiefs over their inability to curb the rising wave of insecurity.

The request is contained in a suit, marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/625/2020 filed by a former governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Alhaji Said Lawal Uba, who claimed to have sued on behalf of victims of insecurity in the Northern part of the country. The plaintiff also wants the court to compel the Federal Government to pay N100billion in damages to victims.

In a supporting affidavit, Uba stated that thousands of Nigerians have been killed, maimed and injured as a result of the defendant’s inability to ensure the safety of lives and properties of the victims as guaranteed by the Constitution.

He also wants the court to declare that the rights of the citizen to movement as enshrined in Section 37of the Constitution, has been hampered due to the failure of the respondents to adequately address the insecurity challenges in almost every part of the country thereby restricting free movement.
