In Michigan, ballots received after 8 p.m. on Election Day cannot be counted, an appeals court ruled on Friday. It's not clear whether this latest decision will be appealed to the state Supreme Court.

Jocelyn Benson, the Michigan secretary of state, is now urging voters to mail ballots by Monday to ensure they arrive in time to be counted. Otherwise, Benson says ballots should be hand-delivered to election clerks or official ballot drop boxes.

Why? Why should a vote be counted if it arrives after the election?

Since the post office did such a great job delivering ballots to voters! We received ONE of three mailed the same day, weeks ago. Why do we expect them to actually deliver the ballots to the clerk's office on time, if at all?

Why would anyone have a mail-in ballot that arrived after election? Be proactive people and vote now. Be responsible and don’t let this ruling impact your vote!

Does every state make their own rules? What's going on with these elected judges?

As it should be. There is enough time to vote. Democrats are interfering in US elections

WTAF are Republicans so afraid of?

Oh yeah! I forgot that democracy goes to bed at 8pm 🤫

As of last week, a record breaking one million people in Michigan had already voted early. In the 2016 presidential election only 7.7 million voted in total here. They can try to stop us from voting, but it’s not going to work.

Good! Stop the Nonsense

'An NPR analysis found that during primary elections this year, some 50,000 mail ballots were rejected because they arrived too late, often through no fault of the voter.' The Greatest Democracy on Earth?

Do people not own a calendar?

Or you know vote in person

Boo, hiss.

It’s a responsibility, if you can’t adult enough to get your vote in on time, too bad.

Republicans are doing everything they can to prevent American citizens from voting. VoteEarly

The election is 11/3........right?

Meanwhile in Canada, a vote is valid as long as its mailed before the polls close.

Good.

PA is the same. Personally we think it makes more sense to allow the counting of the ballots as they come in. They can barely handle all the requests for ballots as it is. Who knows how long it will take to know the outcome.

When I was young I remember my Dad coming home from his aerospace job and telling my mom that he had to hurry across the street to the school before the precinct closed to vote befor they closed..Get off your butt and vote. When the clock strikes closing time at the boothToo bad

Liberals kept from Cheating again...

Ok, so, in April when we send our tax returns back, apparently the IRS should be allowed to reject our taxes if not received by 8 pm on April 15th. This is all so transparent. I look forward to the day Trump is locked up.

So vote early. This isn't complicated.

It must be appealed.

Wait!? Why would we make people vote before or during Election Day? Is Donald Trump a fascist like every other President before him?!

That’s some bullshit.

It’s astonishing how hard we make it to vote while then pretending to be a democracy on this earth. JFC

Good. If the USPS was as good as dems claim, they will have all the ballots counted on election day

The state legislature could easily fix this....
