Democrats blasted efforts to move forward with Amy Coney Barrett's nomination so close to Election Day in Monday's hearing. 'There's nothing unconstitutional about this process,' Republicans argued.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., speaks on the first day of Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court confirmation hearing on Capitol Hill on Monday. Graham defended the Republican effort to move swiftly on Barrett's confirmation.Senate Judiciary Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., speaks on the first day of Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court confirmation hearing on Capitol Hill on Monday.

"There's nothing unconstitutional about this process," said Graham, reiterating the long-standing GOP justification to block then-President Barack Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court in an election year because the White House and Senate were controlled by opposing parties, and that an election should occur to let the people weigh in on the vacancy.

Who wants to remind the repugnicans that they opposed such action when Obama was president? I don't want to crush their spirit.

Trying to force through a far right wing religious cultist is unconstitutional. She is on the board of organizations determined to deny women the rights that were fought for over hundreds of years and was chosen to make certain that women are reduced to baby factories.

Hey where’s you courtpacking narrative about what the SenateGOP are doing now?

What do you mean 'Republicans argued?' You should have said, 'Republicans stated correctly!' There is absolutely nothing unconstitutional about the process, but, of course, you know that. It's time to get NPR out of the news business!

Republicans are correct

There's also nothing unconstitutional about jamming through another Trump impeachment between Jan 4th & 20th. Even IF Biden wins, the new D led senate could solidify Trumps failed legacy with a lawful removal from office. His ego would explode!

Not unconstitutional. But, amoral.

Stumble, um, uh, stumble, stutter, um, uh, stumble. This is NPR.

There’s also nothing unconstitutional about adding more judges to the court after the election. Actions have consequences

And yet, they didn't do a god damn thing to stop it. They continue to try and cry rules and decorum to a bunch of psychos who don't care about either. They should have shut the whole thing down and they didn't because, at the end of the day, they don't really give a shit.

It’s true. If the tables were turned they would do the same. The two part system is failing us.

None of this would have happened had the DNC not rigged their own primaries 4 years ago and screwed Bernie over.

Judge Barrett’s personal integrity and independence are at issue. She stated no nomination should be made during an election year but accepted it a mere one month before from a man who has broken every commandment. In POP, women are taught to accede to the instructions of men.

Because it isn't inconstitucional. Because the Dems lost any shred of leverage or high ground they may have had after what they did to Kavanaugh, totally immoral. Because Republicans have the WH and the Senate, Obama didn't, if he had we'd have Justice Garland and you know it.

yet the blocked Obama from doing it on the same reasoning.

When you don’t have a legal basis to stand on make your argument emotional. It works when your base prioritizes emotions over facts.

There's plenty unconstitutional about Handmaid Amy imposing her religious views on the country, including her anti-segregation opinions.

I don't care if they bad-mouth the effort, what are they doing to actually STOP it?

All a bunch of political theater by the DoNothingDemocrats ...as usual.

And there's nothing unconstitutional about packing the courts either.

It’s so easy to never break the rules when you are the only one that gets to make them

Call Congress to demand impeachments! Senate trials will take precedence over all other business. Protect RGB's seat! ImpeachThemAll!! Barr Azar Ross tRump again Pence Pompeo Mnuchin Also demand TrumpPenceOutNow and support ShahidForChange to replace Pelosi's inaction.

The Senators to Watch During Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court HearingsA half-dozen Senate Judiciary Committee members will play notable roles during the hearings for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett this week. I just nominated my garden gnome for a Nobel Peace Prize because apparently anyone can be nominated for any reason. hypocrites Doesn't she only have like 3 years of experience being a federal judge? Is it normal to appoint someone with so little practical experience to a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land? Or are handmaids not held to the same standards? They'll be playing covid recipient (D), or host (R)
