SOWETAN | While our judges should never be immune from criticism, such criticism must be fair and based on a set of facts which can be objectively tested.

In December 2017, the high court in Makhanda, Eastern Cape, dismissed an application by a group of ANC members who wanted the court to nullify the party’s violent provincial conference that had taken place earlier that year.

Judges are humans and bound to make mistakes. Nothing special and they should be crititisised for errors of facts and errors of law they commit in their position as judicial officers. Reading of some High Court & Supreme Court of Appeal leaves much to be desired.
