The October term officially began Monday, but the justices kept busy this summer.

the stay it had issued on the ruling enjoining the president’s construction of the border wall. Breyer, Ginsburg, Sotomayor, and Kagan dissented from that ruling.

None of these monumental decisions were accompanied by any formal majority opinion explaining the legal reasoning behind them. The court’s work over the summer is often less visible and receives less attention than its work during the term does. But the continued stream of decisions is shaping the upcoming election, the country’s response to the coronavirus, and important issues of constitutional governance.

Supreme Court begins new term as election battle loomsThe U.S. Supreme Court begins a new term on Monday amidst a raging political battle over an open seat and a high-stakes push by President Donald Trump to have the justices adjudicate a possible contested election. Judge Barrett, GOP Senators who've tested positive for COVID (as a result of your WH intro for SCOTUS) have Congressional health insurance for preexisting conditions while you, if confirmed, will vote against the ACA, denying this coverage to millions of Americans. Uncool, Judge. Sorry communists, Trump will save our Republic. “They'll address matters of health insurance, use of force by police, military rape claims, religious freedom, grand jury secrecy, robocalls and faith-based foster care.”

The Election And A Fresh Obamacare Challenge Loom Over New Supreme Court TermThe Supreme Court begins its new term Monday with 8 justices. And with a challenge to the ACA expected to be argued a week after the election, it could become apparent fast just how far right the court will move if Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed. They current SCOTUS is trying to undercut Obergefell Good. The ACA is a disaster and needs to be done away with. Sadly, the whole notion of needing to care deeply about there being 8 justices reveals the deepest problem with SCOTUS - we all have a sense how political appoints will vote prior to cases being heard. Rs have made it another legislative chamber. Dems must re-balance the court.
